Your Holiday Glow Timeline: What to Book and When

By Lily Machuca, FNP-C | Updated August 2026

If you want to feel your best for Thanksgiving, holiday parties, or New Year’s Eve, the rule of thumb is simple: book the treatments with the most downtime first. Collagen-building treatments like Sculptra go on the calendar now, laser resurfacing like HALO needs about a month’s head start, tox needs about two weeks, filler needs one to two weeks, and quick-glow treatments can wait until the week of your event. Here’s how to build your own timeline, whatever’s already on your calendar this season.

The Math You’re Considering

You’ve probably scrolled through a few holiday invites already and started doing the math in your head. How much time is actually left. What you can realistically get done before people see you in photos again. You’re not alone in that. A lot of my patients are quietly planning their skin around the holidays well before the first pumpkin spice latte shows up, they just don’t say so out loud. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about in wanting to feel put together for the season. I’d rather you think of this as a plan to look like a well-rested version of yourself, not a countdown to fix something.

How Far Out Should I Book Sculptra for the Holidays?

If Sculptra is part of your plan, start now. Sculptra works by stimulating your own collagen rather than adding volume directly, so results build gradually instead of showing up overnight. Most patients need two to three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, and visible improvement generally begins around four to six weeks after a session, continuing to build for months afterward. If you want your Sculptra results in place for December, the smart move is to start your series in August or September, not November.

When Should I Schedule HALO Laser Before a Party?

Plan on booking HALO laser resurfacing three to four weeks before your event. HALO combines two laser wavelengths to improve texture, tone, and sun damage, and most patients see redness and swelling for the first 24 to 48 hours, followed by mild peeling and rough texture for a few days after that. That window gives your skin time to settle and reveal the smoother tone underneath, with results continuing to improve for weeks afterward. This isn’t a treatment to book the week of a big event, but it’s an excellent one to book the month before it.

How Close to the Holidays Can I Get Botox?

Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Daxxify are more forgiving on timing than lasers. You’ll notice initial softening within a few days, but full results take up to two weeks to show. If you want your smoothest, most settled look on the day of your event, book about two weeks out. Closer to the wire than that, you’ll still see meaningful improvement, just not the complete picture by party time.

How Close to the Holidays Can I Get Filler?

Filler works faster than tox since it adds volume the moment it’s placed, but bruising and swelling are common for the first few days, and results fully settle over one to two weeks. If your event involves a lot of photos, plan filler for one to two weeks out so any swelling has time to resolve. In a genuine pinch, filler can be done closer to your event, it’s worth a quick conversation with your provider about that trade-off before you book.

What Can I Do the Week of My Event?

This is where MOXI laser, a Refine RX Facial, or a DiamondGlow facial come in. MOXI has minimal downtime: most patients notice slight redness for a few hours and can wear makeup again within 24 hours. A facial can be booked the same week, even the day before, for an instant, low-risk glow with essentially no recovery. These are the treatments to lean on if you’re reading this in early December and everything else feels too late. It usually isn’t.

Will Anyone Be Able to Tell I Got Something Done?

This is the real question underneath most of the others, and it’s a fair one. Holiday prep at Refine Aesthetics was never about a different face showing up in your family photos, it’s about your face, just less tired, less strained, and closer to how you look on a genuinely good day. Subtle changes, timed well and given room to settle before your event, tend to read as “you look great, did you get some sleep?” rather than anything more obvious. If that’s the outcome you want, timing does most of the work for you.

What if I’m Starting Late?

Start where you are. Even if Thanksgiving is two weeks out, there’s still a plan that fits your timeline, it will just lean on faster-acting treatments rather than the ones that need months to build. A consultation is the quickest way to find out what’s realistic for your specific dates, and there’s no pressure to book anything on the spot.

Building Your Plan

A rough version of the season, working backward from your event:

  • 12+ weeks out: Sculptra series, if collagen building is part of your goal
  • 3 to 4 weeks out: HALO laser resurfacing
  • 1 to 2 weeks out: Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Daxxify, or filler
  • Days before: MOXI, Refine RX Facial, or DiamondGlow

Every face and every calendar is different, so treat this as a starting point, not a prescription. The team at Refine Aesthetics can build a version of this timeline around your specific dates, budget, and goals.
