Juvederm Injections and Treatments

Juvederm is a brand of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers offered by the professionals at Refine Aesthetics. These fillers reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, enhance facial contours, and can plump or hydrate the lips. They are non-surgical, minimally invasive, require no anesthetic, and can provide immediate, natural-looking results that last up to a year.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a line of dermal fillers that are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin. These fillers add volume, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, and enhance facial contours. Juvederm is administered via injections and provides immediate results that can last up to 1-2 years. They are a popular, minimally invasive alternative to surgical procedures and are often used to restore a more youthful appearance to the face.

How Do Juvederm Fillers Work?

What does Juvederm do? Juvederm fillers work by adding volume to areas of the face that have lost volume due to aging or other factors. Hyaluronic acid is the active ingredient in this facial enhancement because it’s a naturally occurring substance in our skin that helps to retain moisture and keep the skin hydrated. This makes it a safe and effective choice for adding volume to the face.

The Hylacross technology used in Juvederm products is a manufacturing process that creates a smooth, cohesive gel that evenly distributes within the skin. This provides a natural-looking result with minimal risk of lumpiness or irregularity.

Fillers are placed under the skin using a fine needle or cannula. The filler is precisely injected into the treatment area, filling in wrinkles and restoring volume to the face.

This amazing treatment is minimally invasive, requires no anesthetic, and provides immediate results that can last up to a year. The filler can be used strategically to achieve the desired result, and the effects can be reversed if necessary.

What Can Be Treated With Juvederm?

Juvederm can be used to address a number of skin concerns, such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles – Juvederm dermal fillers help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by adding volume to the skin.
  • Lip shape, volume, and symmetry – The lip enhancement treatment can be used to fill out, plump and shape the lips. There are different fillers within the Juvederm line to effectively give you the subtle lip enhancement you desire or add volume and structure as well.
  • Facial contours – Strategically placed Juvederm fillers can enhance your bone structure or highlight your best features.
  • Dark circles and puffiness – The volume added by Juvederm fillers helps to reduce the appearance of bags and puffiness.
  • Uneven nose – using the volume Juvederm creates, newer, more symmetrical lines can be created.
  • Loss of volume – if you’re experiencing sunken cheeks or other side effects of a loss of volume, Juvederm can help fill them out or restore structure to help lift the mid face or define the jawline that we lose during the aging process.

There are many more skin complaints that Juvederm may treat, so it’s always best to consult your practitioner and find out if Juvederm is right for you.

The natural-looking results provided by Juvederm make it a popular choice for those seeking a non-surgical option for enhancing their appearance.

Juvederm Treatments

The Juvederm line of dermal fillers is composed of a range of products, each designed to target specific cosmetic concerns. These products vary in their composition and formula, allowing for the customized treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, loss of volume, and other cosmetic concerns.

  • Juvederm Ultra – Juvederm Ultra is used to add volume and hydration to the skin. This product is specifically formulated to address fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of volume in the mid-face area, including the cheeks and around the mouth. Juvederm Ultra provides immediate, natural-looking results that can last up to a year, depending on the individual and the specific treatment area.
  • Juvederm Ultra Plus –  This product is used to add volume and hydration to the skin. Juvederm Ultra Plus is designed to address more severe wrinkles and facial folds, as well as restore volume to areas of the face that have lost volume due to aging or other factors. You’ll get long-lasting, natural-looking results that can last up to a year or longer, depending on the individual and the specific treatment area.
  • Juvederm Voluma – Juvederm Voluma is used for restoring volume and contouring the cheeks, mid face and chin. It works by adding fullness to the cheek area, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and lifting sagging skin. On average, Juvederm Voluma results can last up to two years, making it a popular choice for those seeking a long-lasting solution to age-related volume loss.
  • Juvederm Volbella – Volbella is specifically designed for adding subtle volume to the lips and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, and helping restore the under-eye area. The results of Juvederm Volbella are typically seen to last for about one year, although this can vary depending on individual factors such as skin type, age, and lifestyle habits. It’s important to note that Juvederm Volbella is a more delicate filler compared to other options, making it a popular choice for those seeking a natural-looking enhancement to their lips or mid face.
  • Juvederm Vollure – Juvederm Vollure has been crafted to address moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, particularly the “laugh lines”. These fillers work by adding volume to the skin and smoothing out wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance. On average, the results of Juvederm Vollure can last up to 18 months, making it a popular choice for those seeking a long-lasting solution to the signs of aging.
  • Juvederm Volux– This is the newest edition to the Juvederm line and is indicated to help restore the Jawline. This is a more robust filler to add volume and structure and should only be injected by an experienced practitioner.

What Does the Juvederm Treatment Look Like?

During the initial consultation, our skilled practitioner will assess your skin and discuss your aesthetic goals to determine the appropriate type and amount of Juvederm filler needed. Before the treatment, we’ll clean the area to be treated and may apply a topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort during the procedure. We will then use a fine needle or cannula to inject the Juvederm filler into the target area. The exact amount of filler used will depend on the size of the area being treated and the desired outcome. After the injections, we may gently massage the treated area to smooth out the filler and ensure a natural-looking result. As with any injection, there is the possibility you might feel a slight sting or pinch, and you may experience some mild pressure as the fillers are being injected. A feeling of warmth is often reported by patients undergoing fillers as well.

What To Expect After the Procedure

After a Juvederm treatment, you may experience some swelling and bruising and your skin may be flushed and tender for a couple of days. Cold compresses are your best friend when you’re experiencing these aftereffects. They will help reduce the swelling, soothe the skin, bring down the redness, and promote healing. You’ll want to stay away from heavy exercise or  Saunas for a few days, but other than that, you should be able to return to normal life right away with little downtime.

How Long Do the Results From Juvederm Last?

On average, many patients see good results with one or two treatments of Juvederm. However, some patients may need more treatments to achieve their desired outcome. The practitioner will assess your skin and discuss your aesthetic goals to determine the appropriate number of treatments needed to achieve the best results.

It’s also important to keep in mind that the results of Juvederm are temporary and that follow-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired outcome. The practitioner will provide a personalized treatment plan to ensure that you achieve the best results and maintain your desired appearance over time.

Juvederm results last for 6 to 12 months and up to 24 months depending on the product used, amount and placement in the face, although some patients may experience longer-lasting results.

Are You a Good Candidate for Juvederm Fillers?

Patients who are seeking a solution to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles or add volume to the face are a good candidate for Juvederm fillers with just a few exceptions. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have certain health conditions, you may not be right for Juvederm. If you suffer from certain allergies, you may not be a good fit either.

When you come to see Austin Juvederm practitioners at Refine Aesthetics, we’ll take a full assessment of all of this and make a customized recommendation for you.
